National History Day


Theme: Debate and Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failure, and Cosequences



  1. Debate- a discusson between people who have different views on a certain topic(good or bad); at least 2 opposing viewpoints/opinions being discussed/argue.

    1. ex. differences of opinion over signing the treaty of versailles and joing the league of Nations
  2. Diplomacy- gov't trying to make deals with other nations;negotiations and discussions between countries

    1. ex. China's president visited the U.S. recently to meet with president Obama and discuss trade, human rights, etc..
  3. Success- to make an achievement -- positive outcomes/result;acomplishing something/goal

  4. Failure- not acomplishing something/goal negative outcomes/results

  5. Cosequences-outcomes or results

TIME FRAME: 1930 to 1975

Topic: The new Deal

Narrow topic: WPA- Works progress Administration 1935 (second new deal)

Research question: How much did the WPA help Americans during the Great Depression?
